New Military Technology
Parachutes
Parachutes were used a lot during World War II. They were used for people to get in to areas that were not accessible from land or sea. Soldiers would jump out of planes and get behind enemy lines. German Soldiers were the first to do this in the war, but it then caught on the US and Britain soldiers. People who did this were called Paratroopers. The parachutes used were mostly a round or circular design. They could be steered by moving a little bit on the risers.
Jeeps
The vehicle that we now use called Jeeps, were used in World War II as a military vehicle. They were first called the Willys MB. It was created when the US needed a lightweight vehicle to use for utility and travel. They needed them in order to replace horses and motorcycles, which were used before World War II. They placed a huge military role in both the European and Pacific portions of the war. These cars were used as multiple things. They were used to transport troops, as command cars, as ambulances, as weapon platforms, and a lot of other things. The Jeep was very useful in the war.
